Two Juveniles Arrested After Fleeing in Stolen Car

Two juveniles were arrested after fleeing from Knoxville Police Department officers in a stolen car early Sunday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, KPD officers responded to a report of in-progress vehicle burglaries at The Park at Fountain City apartment complex on Adair Drive.

Responding officers spotted a green Kia Soul driving south on Broadway that had reportedly been stolen from the apartment complex just minutes before. After verifying that the Kia was stolen, officers attempted to stop it. However, the car refused to stop and officers initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit continued until three suspects ran the stolen Kia in the parking lot of The Vistas on Hall of Fame Drive. After a brief pursuit and with the assistance of Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies, officers captured two of the three suspects. One of the suspects, a 16-year-old male, was found in possession of a black ski mask, gloves and a screwdriver. The second suspect, another 16-year-old male, was also in possession of a mask and gloves.

The two suspects were charged with motor vehicle theft, evading arrest, possession of burglary tools and reckless endangerment. Following continued investigation, those same suspects were also charged with attempted auto theft and auto burglary from a similar incident that happened on Kenyon Street earlier in the night.
